英文天天写: 交流的障碍

2014-06-20

背景介绍:

As Chinese, We have been learning English since we were little children, however, we still feel difficult to communicate with English-speakers for the reason that we can’t make us understood. Why this happened? Last few days, a video got heat through Micro-blog. In that video, the reporter’s Chinese accent pleased the watchers and provoked their thoughts.

话题:

Is accent the most important when we communicate with English-speakers?

If not, what's essential in this situation in your opinion?

范例1:

Actually, I treated accent as an essential part to my spoken English and spent most part of time to practice it before. But now, I think a proper and native expression is more important than your British accent or American accent. That not to say, accent is not crucial for your regular communication. In fact, it is the basis while the expression is the building where shelters you.

A not really poor accent can make you understood while proper expression makes you more native and closer with English-native speakers.

范例2:

When conversing with foreigners, accent is not the most important factor. The most important element is the flow of the conversation. Even for a foreigner whose first language is English, there are different accents, depending on whether the person is from the United States, England, Australia, or Singapore, just to name a few. Between these foreigners from different countries, they all sound like they have an accent to each other; moreover, their usage of idioms and slangs will also vary. At the end of the day, the focus of verbal communication should be on the flow of the conversation to get one's idea across.
